As part of the delivery team, our role was to provide technical and business input to the development of the BIWMS project - providing support to the British Armed Forces in the management and tracking of inventory, weapons, and munitions. We attended various workshops and meetings, providing input and support for the development and testing of different ECG assessments, including controlled stocks, unit scales, earmarks, and task issues. Additionally, we provided guidance and support to the movement management project and participated in the resolution of data and data access issues, as well as overseeing the obsolescence of the data centre.
The outcome resulted in an improved inventory management – the BIWMS+ has allowed for better management of the inventory and reduced the risk of equipment downtime and increased operational readiness. It has enhanced data management of the systems involved by improving the data migration and data access. Enabled better system performance due to the resolution of SDW disc capacity problems and lead on the Data Centre Obsolescence Review which resulted in improving the system’s performance and reduced downtime.
