Engineering Interventions Development

Babcock required Subject Matter Experts with experience of the Land Defence environment and the organisations and processes of Defence Equipment & Support and Army HQ Directorate of Support. There was a requirement to investigate a range of 60 engineering interventions, aimed at delivering greater efficiency, grouped into four categories:

  • Changes to Maintenance
  • Driving down number and cost of Repairs
  • Engineering Enabled Supply Chain improvements
  • Engineering Enabled Service Maintenance and Repair improvements
Engage provided Engineering Leads who were responsible for developing a detailed description of each engineering interventions to a level of maturity which enabled the benefits delivered by each intervention to be calculated along with an assessment of the level of confidence for delivery of the benefits.
The Engage team:

  • Confirmed the scope of additional tasks and responsibilities
  • Designed an Engineering and Technical capability for the Strategic Support Supplier (SSS) construct
  • Developed a transition plan to integrate additional tasks into the SSS operational design
  • Established working relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Design Authorities (DA) for Post Design Services (PDS) activity
  • Implemented engineering interventions to reduce the cost of equipment support and improve the reliability of components and platforms.
Engage can drive your Through-Life improvements using a variety of engineering-based interventions. Whether you need a full change programme, a robust continuous improvement process, or just workshopping an issue, Engage can support you.
